Born January 21, 1929 in Tampa, Florida, Nina Banks peacefully passed away on January 31, 2011 at the age of 82. She is survived by her brothers, Ken and Tommy Wineman, her son, Kevin Banks, her grandson, Jeffrey Banks, her great-granddaughter, Milo Banks, and her granddaughter, Suzanne Rowe. In the mid-1960’s, Nina worked as a waitress at Tampa’s famed Hawaiian Village. Having an interest in chemistry, she then spent the next 35 years as a cosmetician at Moss Brothers, I. Magnum’s, and Saks Fifth Avenue. Her expertise in perfumes was sought out by her loyal clients, and she was said to have been able to find the perfect fragrance based on the mention of one ingredient. A Carmel resident since 1980, Nina and her Yorkies, Tiffany, Max, and Max II, were seen walking to the beach every morning for many years. Nina loved her dogs, mystery novels, Irish coffee, and Cuban sandwiches. She was much loved and will greatly missed by her family and the Carmel community.
